Call your relatives! Call your friends! And don’t forget to update your Facebook status. Also, be sure to show off that sparkly new diamond on your finger.
Geneva Bride would like to congratulate all of our newly engaged couples. We are so happy for all of you and the extraordinary journey you’re about to begin. To help ease you into the transition, here are some suggested first steps into the wedding planning process:
Get your ring sized and insured.
You won’t want to take that beautiful rock off your finger, but in case you do it’s best to be prepared. Consider getting your ring appraised and added to your insurance in case anything happens to it.
Consider choosing a season.
Almost immediately, people are going to ask you “when’s the wedding?” Consider giving friends and family an estimated year or season that you’re thinking about getting married to start. It’s also ok to say “we don’t know yet.” ☺
The very first step in planning can simply be doing research and looking through blogs, wedding magazines, and scanning through Pinterest to get the ideas flowing.
Register for the Geneva Wedding Walk.
To get inspiration and introduced to wedding vendors, our annual Geneva Wedding Walk on March 5th is a great place to start! At the Walk you can meet face-to-face with our incredible vendors and visit wedding shops in downtown Geneva. You can purchase tickets on our website and be sure to connect with us on social media for more wedding inspiration.
This step may be the most important. This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for the both of you, so make sure you enjoy the time during your engagement. And schedule in some time to just soak it all up.
We hope this helps you as you begin your wedding planning… and remember there is so much more to look forward to!
